FIIs were net sellers in the cash segment to the tune of Rs. 3848 crores. In index futures front, they sold worth Rs. 1884 crores with decrease in open interest indicating long unwinding and short formations on Friday.
FII’s have been sellers in equities throughout the week and have sold equities worth over 19000 crores in the month of July. In Index futures, they preferred unwinding of longs in Friday’s session and their ‘Long Short Ratio’ stands at 61.75%. Rollover in NIFTY and BANKNIFTY stands at 82.75% and 81.20% respectively, which appears to be good if we consider the three month average; but if when we compare the series or series OI change, there is no major addition or reduction in open interest. The index has consolidated within a broad range of 15500-15950 and the options data indicate the consolidation could continue in the near term. Traders are advised to trade with a stock specific approach until there’s clarity on the direction.
